Happy New Year…. It’s a busy time of year for HIT vendors; HIMSS is 49 days away (but who’s counting?) so our 2010 efforts are in high gear. This year is particularly exciting and busy for us because of the acquisition of Accenx Technologies that we recently announced.

Initiate has long been the gold standard in enterprise master person index technology which is a critical component to successful health information exchange initiatives; we saw an opportunity to expand our footprint with complementary technology and knew it made sense to combine the offerings.

Accenx Exchange™ enables healthcare communities to rapidly connect stakeholders such as physician practices, reference labs and imaging centers to easily share information. Once connected, this platform could enable the delivery of a virtually limitless number of services or applications.

I have spent a lot of time with health system clients who have shared their challenges around controlling costs, enabling well coordinated care and needing to be easier to work with. As a trusted infrastructure partner, healthcare stakeholders have relied on Initiate Patient to achieve a “360 degree view of the patient” inside their traditional four walls.

Now, with the addition of Accenx Exchange, this view can be extended to a broader healthcare community to achieve information sharing with a much larger set of stakeholders.

Accenx Exchange was designed with the recognition that each physician practice is unique and that health systems want to connect to all of them and… most importantly, it needs to be simple. Together I am confident that Initiate and Accenx will enable connectivity more quickly and information sharing more easily.
